A
Variance From Development Standards
is a specific approval that can be granted by the Board of Zoning
Appeals to deviate from the development standards than the Zoning
Ordinance otherwise prescribes. See
Section 8.10 of the City of Butler Zoning
Ordinance for details regarding variances.
A
Variance Of Use
is the approval of a use other than that prescribed by the Zoning
Ordinance. A use variance can only be granted by the Board of
Zoning Appeals. See

A
Special Exception
is a use, specifically identified in the Zoning Ordinance, that is
permitted in a zoning district upon showing that such use in a specific
location will comply with all the concerns conditions and standards for
the location or the operation as specified in the Zoning Ordinance and
authorized by the Board of Zoning Appeals. See
Section 8.11
of the City of Butler Zoning Ordinance for details regarding
special exceptions.
Administrative Appeals
to decisions or determinations made by an administrative official
responsible for enforcing the City of Butler's Zoning Ordinance are
heard by the Board of Zoning Appeals. See
Section 8.15 of the
City of Butler Zoning Ordinance for details regarding
administrative appeals.
